@ dead eye dick .

Every australian resorts to the plane incident whenever the spirit of cricket issue comes up. They all claim that the Indians were childish enough to fly back home instead of getting on with the game. But let me remind you, the Indians didnt have a plane ready (assuming ofcourse that there really was an aircraft) to protest aginst bad umpiring. They protested against the alleged racist allegation that was levelled on them. And all because your countryman was offended because he thought Harbhajan called him a monkey. He wasnt called a nigger, or a black or any of those terms, mind you. He was allegedly called a monkey.

So next time you bring up the aircraft issue, be reminded that it wasnt because the Indians wanted that West Indian out. It was because they wanted the racist allegations removed. That is now ay related to the spirit of cricket. Got it?

Australia has certainly lost the plot. Dropping Hughes and opening with Shane Watson seems a strange decision considering opening did not seem like an issue not too long for the Aussies. Phil Jacques, Chris Rogers, and Shaun Marsh all seemed to demonstrate potential for that spot. It is clear to me that you don't let facts stand in the way of your opinions! Ponting whined about the "Spirit of Cricket" after Cardiff. The article was written after Cardiff. The Hughes catch incident happened at Lords'!

Get your facts right... On second thoughts, just don't bother -- we will be denied further opportunities of you making an ass of yourself in public repeatedly :-)

Now, coming to the Hughes, Bopara and Ponting Incidents at Lords' the umpires were spot on on all three incidents in my view. Read the Koertzen interview on CricInfo.

You claim that all three umpires got it wrong in Cardiff!! How? Or is it a case of you making an ass of yourself in public again?

You now know why you aren't taken seriously!

Ssrivatsan,

The telecast in India or wherever you watched must be different to the one showed here in England.

The two umpires did not refer to the third uimpire the catch was not a catch by Strauss--of P Hughes. The same umpires did refer the previous day, one of N hauritz of australia!!

Ponting caught in the slips--came off the pad. Kuertzen thought it was off the bat--referred to Third umpire. Under the current agreement, the third umpire--apart from telling the umpire whether the catch was taken cleanly. is obliged to tell the field umpire if the ball hit the bat or pad first. Then it is the field umpire's call. If this happens after October 2009, there will be far more referrals . Unfortunately, all THREE umpires got it wrong at Cardiff and it is not that one team or the other suffers but the contest and reputation of the game..

as you may or may not recollect--as India was an early exit in the last world Cup in West Indies--Kuertzen was one of the umpires that forced the teams to play in the dark--just forgot the rules !!!!!

Re Bucknor

He was appointed for the Sydney test and Perth test a few weeks in advance FULL STOP. If India did not want him for Perth, this should have been arranged before he was appointed for the two matches weeks in advance.

ICC did not have the courage to tell India to play in Perth with Bucknor as the umpire or forefit the match and go home.

Just like it gave into the tantrums of Rantunga on the field when Javelin thrower was no-balled. SriLanka should have been forced to play on or forefit the match.
It is no different to the ICC that crucified umpire Hair because of criticism by Pakistan and supported by other Sub continental boards--only to reverse the decision 2 years later after MCC rules committee recommended it that way. Now that Pakistan is so weak due to the bombings and does not have the support of BCCI any longer, it has accepted the reversed decision., Doctrove is rehabilitated but Hair was not--because he stood his ground on principles and sued ICC.

As usual, in your rage, you forget a few essential details. And your terming of India as a "jungle" gives your cards away. On another day, I won't have bothered talking to a bigot like you. However, let's just clear a few facts.

The umpires in Cardiff got NOTHING wrong. The sorry fellow in Sydney did. The umpires in Cardiff had no known bad reports writ against them. The sorry fellow from Sydney had been receiving bad reports from the Indians from 1992. These are all documented evidence.

Sometimes, a revolution is needed to bring about change.

And who told you that there was a plane on the standby? Sometimes "Negative Spin" and "posturing" creates an impact too. Well done to the BCCI for flexing and posturing. Here the BCCI stood up to an establishment that had made an absolute ass of itself through Procter. No one has the right to call another person a "racist" without having concrete evidence. More power to the BCCI.

Meanwhile, show me the contract that said that the BCCI had hired a plane. Or show me reference to a contract. If not, that can best be "posturing". There is no crime against posturing in this world.

Get your facts right before you throw your brand of racism around you goon.

Talking of post-match speeches, I refer you to the post-match speech after Sydney 2008 by Anil Kumble. There can be no better example of a dignified speech than that. Not only had his team lost. His team had lost a match in which they had played against a bunch of cricketers who did not understand the meaning of "spirit of cricket"; in a match officiated by a sorry man; in a match in which the match referee who was not a lawyer, yearned to don a cloak that he had no business donning. Better still look at the mans' conduct in the days succeeding that. And then you MAY understand the meaning of the word "dignified".

Enough said.
