It is believed that during the 1999 WC semifinal between Aus and SA, Steve Waugh never said “You’ve dropped the cup, mate”. He actually said “You’ve dropped the match, mate”. Waugh explains in his autobiography that he takes things match by match and doesn’t think too ahead even if it means playing a semi-final. And we all know it as “You’ve dropped the CUP”.
