There seems to be little logic behind the bidding.Like why would one pay so much for Dravid,Tendulkar, Kumble or Ganguly for a 20/20 game when they did not even take part in the 20/20 world cup. 20/20 is a youngster sport , it is not an option for retired sportsmen.Maybe these bidders see something which I don't.

Good questions Bharath.

If Kingfisher was planning on making money from selling beer, they've god the most boring and dud players to appeal to a racy, young audience!

The "Dravid, Kumble, Kallis, Boucher, Jaffer, Chanderpaul, Steyn and Bracken" combine will put even the most brazen nightclub to sleep within minutes of stepping into one!

Zaheer Khan and Cameron White offer them beer sales hope although I am not sure Khan will want to appear in a beer commercial.

Hmmm!

IPL - The Hungry Tide
Kalyug is defined in Hindu Mythology as a phase, when man stops honoring what he promised by word of mouth. As to the exact date when it started, no one knows. Saints have stated that it started sometime during, before or after the epic of Mahabharata. With respect to cricket, Feb 20th, 2008 will go as the Kalyug day of cricket. Let me be the first to say that these numbers are a vulgar slap on the face of all those parents and teachers who prevented kids from pursuing careers in cricket, or sports in general. Secondly, I am reminded of the dialogue by Dr Ian Malcolm in response to John Hammond's methods for controlling Dinosour reproduction in Jurassic Park, when he says "Nature will find its way". In IPL, Capitalism has found its way.
Things that cross my mind---
1. I have never heard of Loots Bosman.
2. What percentage of India's GDP is attributed to cricket?
3. Is ICC relevant anymore, if it was relevant in the past?
4. After 10th board exam, you have a choice of Science, Commerce, Arts or Sports.
5. Is Kingfisher planning to make money selling beer during the games?
6. What is retirement in cricket, going forward?
7. Lara, what were you thinking?
8. Is the Monkey finally off his back?
9. I hope Parthiv Patel has been taken as a batsman for Chennai.
10. Why didnt anyone think of this before?
