Geez! You let rip there!

I suggest you read the comment again in the context of what is being said and not in a general context. The context of this part of the discussion-thread is inter-state rivalry IN Australia!!!

Ok, let me state this again... The context for this part of the discussion-thread is inter-state rivalry IN Australia.

Ok, so we stated some examples of inter-state rivalry IN Australia. Where do you expect these examples to be from? Egypt? Romania?

And in this context, the spectators being locked out of a Test match IN India means absolutely zip, whether or not we are tribals or canibals or animals or hanibals or ghetto creatures. That is all totally irrelevant in the context of this part of the discussion thread, IMVHO.

Let me reimind you, that you started this sub-thread with the words... "<i>P Panicker wants know what a NSW p[layer or spectator say to upset a Victorian in the form of a racist remark or a regional remark.</i>"

Why is inter-state rivalry in India or "hand that feeds" or bestiality in India even of concern in this context?

Initially, you said that because all Australians are nice "Christians that speak English", not much explicit rivalry exists between states -- you suggested a certain homogeneity. Raghavan pointed out, in his own unique way, that that wasn't quite the case. I agreed. To whit, one more example was suggested to bolster the argument.

I even said that there is one case (that I know of) where state-vs-state was pitted over a selection issue in India.

I kindly request you read the comments again in the context in which it was said.

Mohan,

Which city / country had the dubious honour of locking out spectators during an interrupted world cup semi final?
WE are all ANIMALS with TRIBAL mentality --and GHETTO behaviour

I never said that spectators from different state show dislike players from other states!!! within a state one group of spectators refer to the other as ferals!!!

It is typical of Indian logic that whenever one criticises anything about india, up comes the list of wrong things from Australia, USA etc.
I can tolerate when 80 year olds argue that way--having spent all their lives in India and forced to live overseas, close to their children. However, I do find it difficulty when immigrants bite the hand that feeds ---and blindly support SWADESHIs!!!!!

Sampath Kumar,

I tend to agree with marginally with Raghavan.

Apart from the Pura-Cup promos on Foxtel that Raghavan alludes to, I will point to a comment that David Hookes made about NSW players getting the Baggy Green along with their Blues Cap on debut for NSW! This suggests a deep-rooted and implicit anger/hatred.

The more telling episode, however was when Ian Healy was booed continually in Perth when he replaced Tim Zoehrer as the Australian team 'keeper. I don't think the people who were booing were fresh-off-the-boat Asians! They were all probably nice "Christians who speak English".

However much some of us may want to gloss over it, there is regionalism in Australia too. Perhaps not to the extent that there is in India, but it does exist.

Having said that, I have never ever heard an Indian player being booed off the field for having replaced another player although there was a threat of a strike in Bangalore when the Windies toured in 1974. In what was Bangalore's first ever Test, there was a hint of suggestion that either Prasanna or Chandrashekar (local heroes) may not play. In the end they did. I can't remember the exact details. So I'd welcome a clarification from anyone who does.

The point however, is that I can't remember an Indian player ever being booed by the crowds for displacing another player.

What utter garbage. The promos for this season's Pura Cup on Foxtel had a bunch of players from one state using some extremely impolite terms to denigrate players from another state! This is sanctioned and organised denigration! Discrimination exists in every society. It is just that you have a strong belief that Indian discrimination is stunningly different and bad. You are welcome to your blinkered opinions.
