As Ravi Sastri mentioned, this was a wicket to go with 3 medium pacers and should have bowled first. Rahul Dravid did not have the option – given the “expensive Agarkar” or “not fit Munaf Patel”.

Karthik was dropped since he did not score in 2 one-day matches. That is fair. Karthik was held accountable. Will the selectors be held accountable for their poor selection of the one-day side ? Time to select some good youngsters medium pacers and forget about Agarkar. Munaf Patel has pulled this “not fit” trick second time; once in South Africa and now the second time. He should take one-year sabbatical like L. Balaji.

Finally, selectors should emphasize fielding in a one-day side. RP Singh, Powar are not good fielders.

How many more years, Sachin and Ganguly open the one-day side batting ?
