Blogesh,
On the second point of LBW dismissals missed or given by the umpires--I was critical of Indian media and bloggers totally ignoring benefits to Indian batsman and highlighting Indian victims. LBW decision is subjective and "in the opinion of the umpire". Hawk eye is NOT fool proof--the camera has to be at the level umpires eyes, for a start--it doesn't take into account the vagaries if the ball, pitch, bounce etc If I had my way, I will ban this technology as it creates more questions than answers.

On the batsman "Walking"--every wicket is OUT" on APPEAL according to the Laws of Cricket. Appeals can only upheld or rejected by th umpires--at this stage .Hence, there is no obligation on the part of the batsman to walk--Gavaskar, a walker -but wouldn't walk against one Mumbai local league and Pakistan!! Gilchrist walked most of the times--including a time when he wasn't out.

Appealing for a catch --fielders know it when they do it and if in doubt they can say "I don't know." And players fighting for thier spot will certainly ignore the Spirit of the game.

Unfortunately, in my opinion all sportsmen--that includes cricketers--are cheats / arseholes-but some are worse than others--because they play for big money and career and not for thier countries. Spirit of the game rule brought in by ICC is not worth the paper it is written on. Unfortunately, ALL match referees are Ex players and NOT one Ex umpire and hence Players will continue to stretch the umpires and get away with it-

Talking about bad umpiring decisions: Pietersen, Vaughan and Collingwood had what we term in street cricket in Chennai as "double <i>garju</i>". Vaughan was out LBW to Kumble in his first over and we all know from the replays that both Collingwood and Pietersen had nicked the ball to the keeper but stood their ground (Maybe Sampath Kumar can clarify this for me: Why do we think that a fielder or WK "claiming" a catch he is not sure of, is dishonest, while a batsman standing his ground when he clearly nicked the ball is not?)

For people who complained about the LBW reprives that Jaffer and Karthik got on day 1, these favourable decisions to Vaughan and co should more than make up for it :)

Great performance indeed from Zaheer. I hope it is not just a one-off and he continues his performance in the next test.

We have a great opportunity to beat England in England in a test series - something that hasn't been done in 6 years. But first, we must win *this* Test and although it may seem like a formality, we still need to score 60 odd runs and in a game of cricket anything can happen....

Sreesanth's on-field behaviour has been appalling. Aggro is one thing but pointless prattling after every ball only serves to loose focus. Instead he should think about where and what he should be bowling. There is no doubt he has got talent and loads of it. I am sure Dravid and Prasad must have had a chat with him about focus and line. His length is all right from over the wicket (except for the odd beamer :) )

Why at all he tries to bowl around the wicket and that too for a ball or two baffles me. This shows his thinking is all over the place and gives the impression that he has no clue to what he is going to bowl before each delivery.

I put it down to nerves and new conditions at Lords. Then I thought maybe he is entitled to the odd bad spell and the slope was'nt helping his control. But then Trent Bridge has confirmed he needs to work on the metal side of things (as well as attitude) if he needs to survive at this level.

He is likely to have a go at the next game against Sri Lankan A. Unless he can bounce back quickly in that match both in terms of both focus and performance, Dravid probably will pencil in Powar for the Oval Test.
